Videos
I have recently started producing videos about my work. You can find them on my YouTube channel, Scott Alexander Art, or watch them here. I hope you find them interesting and useful.
These roses are painted in an impressionist style. Here I show you how I build up the layers of paint - finishing with an impasto technique to get a luscious feel and shape to the roses.
This is my first video of painting in the pointillist style. You can see the picture on my oil paintings page.
This is one of my favourite paintings and I hope you enjoy watching my reproduction of it.
This is a time lapse video of an impressionist oil painting based on Monet's Water Lilies. I began this painting by loosely sketching in areas of colour and then developed the details and built the painting up by using a wet-on-wet technique.
In this video I have painted a tribute to Claude Monet. The painting is based on the general style and compositional arrangements used in his Water Lilies series.
In this video I demonstrate a more pointillist style of painting. I wanted to create a visual harmony between the lighthouse and the sea. The pointillist style helped to create this visual aesthetic.
In this time lapse demonstration I share some thoughts about my painting process and some of the things I consider whilst I'm painting a composition like this. I hope you enjoy the video.
This is a time lapse video of the painting of this cute cat which begins after I have sketched in the cat's basic features. I hope you enjoy it.
This is an impressionist style painting of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice created with a fairly limited palette: cadmium yellow, cadmium red, alizarin crimson, titanium white, and ultramarine blue.
This is an oil painting time lapse of my painting Roses 1. The style is loosely based on Renoir's. I hope you find the video interesting and relaxing. The pianist is the brilliant Asher Fulero - whose music I discovered recently on YouTube.
